BayBuilt is a Titahi Bay building company run by Zak Read and his two sons, Cruz and Zeth.
Zak has over 25 years of experience across new builds, renovations, and high-performance homes, including Homestar and Passive House certified builds.
Cruz and Zeth are completing their apprenticeships with Zak, which means the values aren't just talked about, they're built in.
How we work
Building projects rarely go exactly to plan. Materials get delayed, you open up a wall and find something unexpected, a consented design turns out to be harder to execute on site than it looked on paper. We can't always control what happens, but we can control how we respond — and how quickly we tell you about it.
Our approach is to stay in regular contact throughout a project: text, call, email, or in person, whatever works best for you. If something comes up that affects your timeline or budget, you'll hear from us before we do anything about it. We'll tell you what we've found, what the options are, and what we'd recommend. Then it's your call.
We're pragmatic about budgets and realistic about constraints. We'd rather have an honest conversation upfront than promise something we can't deliver.
